“A few months ago I looked back at some bank records for 2009 and found that I was spending over $300 a month going out with friends to eat and drink. This was a SHOCKING realization (actually a little sickening) and I figured I could probably find something better to do with that money. Between the money wasting, feeling uncomfortable in my body, and knowing I had a big birthday around the corner I started searching around online to find something to help me change.

I joined Victory Get Fit Club in January of 2010 as part of a New Years Resolution to get healthier and also to help prepare for an event. I chose to participate in The Big Climb up 69 flights of the Columbia Tower in March and thought Victory classes in the morning would help me prepare for the event. I ended up getting more than I had expected and I don’t plan on leaving the club any time soon! I feel like I have met people within the club whose goals are in line with my goals and it is nice to have a fun group to share things with.

Having a full time job, as well as attending college full time, I always thought it was hard to find even an hour a day to work out. What better time to work out then in the morning when you’d be wasting your energy sleeping! It was somewhat surprising to find that I have more energy on the days that I wake up earlier to work out then the days that I get an extra hour of sleep. I used to drink office sludge coffee for about the first 2 hours – okay more like the first 3 hours – of my work day and now I only drink one cup each morning.

Last month I attended a nutrition and shoe clinic put on by Victory Get Fit Club and one of the trainers stated that working out with a team is like stepping into a moving river. I realized that her statement was very true and that is one of the things that I like the most about the group sessions. You don’t have time to complain that it is too hard (which is most likely all in your head anyway) because you understand that everyone is depending on you just as much as you are depending on them.

This group and the support I have received has helped me meet some personal health goals, lose weight, have more energy and all in all gain self confidence. I have recommended the club to a family member, who is now as addicted as I am, and I will continue to recommend the club to my friends who are looking for a positive change in their life.

p.s. I climbed those stairs at the Columbia Tower in 24 minutes and am aiming for under 20 in 2011.” ~Kerrie May Testimonial Apr. 2010
