S.W.O.T analysis- Part 2: Weaknesses

Ok, so today is the not so fun part, admitting weaknesses.  It takes humility & ego has to be left at the door.  But, just like our strengths, if we don’t recognize them they could be our downfall.  Henry Ford said that he didn’t have to know everything or be good at doing everything.  He just had to put the right people & systems in place.  Once we are clear on what our weaknesses are, we can use the knowledge to make wise decisions.

After you’ve made your list of strengths, make a list of weaknesses.  If you come from place of hunger for progress & won’t take constructive criticism as a personal attack, then ask those who know you the best to help you make these 2 lists.

Ok, here goes nothing ( I really hope my examples will inspire you to get started )….

#1. Self-control with sweets.  I began to type CHOCOLATE in capital letters, but I need to place responsibility on me & not transfer blame to an inanimate object.
#2. Last minute procrastination.  Things I am working on could be better quality if I didn’t wait until the last minute to start.  I’d also have a relaxing peaceful & enjoyable time worshiping in the spirit if I didn’t stay in bed ’til the last minute then rush in late to church frantic.
#3. Giving myself credit.  I harshly judge & compare myself and the progress I’ve made.
#4. Consistency with making To-do-Lists, menu planning, & marking calender for events & important dates.
#5. Keeping clean & organized my office, my clothes closet, car, and laundry room.
#6. Working late into the night, knowing I have to be awake in a few hours.
#7. Not enough strength training in 2011 & 2010.  I gave more attention to running.
#8. Pamper time.  Only 1 Mani-Pedi, no hair cut or color, & no full body massage in 2011.
#9. Phone.  I’m not fond of talking on it, following up, or returning voice mail.
#10. Weekly date night with kids or spouse.

Whew…I did it, now it’s your turn. Recognize your weaknesses, know what you have to improve OR figure out a different way to take care of it. Example for my #9- Hire a personal/admin assistant. #5 & #10- Schedule or make reservations early. Save & budget for them. #3- Keep a gratitude journal and recognize God’s creation (me) as wonderfully made.
